There are a number of reasons why you might find yourself wanting to disassemble your iPhone. 5. Look for ribbons labeled "1" and "2" on the main board and unplug them. After you have removed ribbon 2, you will see ribbon 3, which also needs to be unclipped. After disconnecting these three ribbons, take off the display assembly.
6. The next thing that needs to be done is releasing the motherboard. In order to do this, you will first have to locate and remove the seven iPhone screws that hold it in. One of these screws will be covered by a sticker that says "DO NOT REMOVE." You will also need to remove a ribbon labeled "4."
7. After setting the motherboard aside, you will need to take out your phone's battery by pulling up on a tab that is connected to it. You will find another screw that needs to be removed.
8. Taking out 9 more iPhone screws, now remove the camera, headphone jack, and flex cable.
9. The next component that will need to be removed is the speaker assembly. This part also includes the dock connector, antennae, and home button. To remove these, you will need to take out 2 more iPhone screws.
10. Setting this assembly aside, you will now need to take out the 5 screws that are holding the LCD to the front glass panel. Once the screws have been removed, you can separate the LCD from the glass panel.
