About this App

“Navigating Japanese Landscapes” is a smartphone application that shows on a map photographs and landscape paintings and drawings of appealing locations throughout Japan. While going around towns and the countryside, compare the scenery you encounter with nostalgic photographs of beautiful local sights, as well as landscape artworks that were created nearby.

The photographs and landscape artworks in this app are based on information provided by museum and various other institutions. Detailed information is even available regarding some locations. We expect the number of cooperating museums and institutions to gradually increase, and users can therefore look forward to newly added vivid landscapes when reopening the app.

We developed this app with the hope that it can help people find out about and share the many still unknown beautiful sites of Japan. Why not use it when traveling to discover the appealing parts of the country?
