Some red-eye conditions can become sight threatening if not managed promptly.
These often exhibit red-flag features, such as reduced visual acuity, redness, pain, photophobia and history of foreign body injury.
Serious causes of red eye need urgent referral for same-day assessment by an ophthalmologist. This App was created by Mr Gerry Jayamanne, Consultant Ophthalmologist on behalf of Blinknow Ltd. The App is designed to be used by clinicians working in the front line to aid decision making when looking after patients presenting with a red eye.
The Red Eye Red Flags App has six videos that helps primary care providers identify which patients might benefit from immediate referral to an ophthalmologist.
