MOTT ENT Post-op Tonsillectomy
1.0
One of the most common procedures performed by ENT is called a tonsillectomy, which entails removal of the tonsils and adenoids in children with sleep disturbance or recurrent infections. This application provides the same post-operative guidelines as received in clinic to assist guardians and parents with post-operative management of their children following this procedure. Common issues following this procedure include pain management, eating/diet, bleeding, fevers; these issues often result in multiple parental phone calls to our nursing staff and house officers, in addition to occasionally unnecessary emergency department visitations. This application outlines these issues and recommended steps for these commonly encountered symptoms. Parents and guardians can find in this application help with common signs their children may exhibit after the operation, help with medications, easy access to clinic contact information, and additional references to help decide whether to present to hospital for additional monitoring.
