The game builds on a DVD and website (hearatale.org) which raised mean vocabulary scores for 459 at-risk Title I kindergarten students from the 27th to the 47th percentile in eight months. Three years later on their statewide 3rd grade reading exams these children scored in the highest of three ranges 35% more often than their peers, and in the lowest range less than half as often (7.6% vs. 16.13%).
