We meet thousands of people and attend hundreds of events: fairs, conferences, corporate parties, birthdays, weddings, etc. We exchange business cards (if we have any with us) and believe that in a couple of days we will get in touch with that person and speak about our new dream job, collaborate on our idea or simply go out and grab a drink together.
The reality is that when that day comes, we just find ourselves fighting vs a pile of business cards. So many names, companies, positions and we simply cannot remember who that interesting person was after all, or worse, we just lost the business card. Sometimes we may realize that one of these encounters, who we thought was not so interesting, could help us… but too late, we have thrown the card away a long time ago.
