Jump is an App designed as a small business resource that also provides a unique map-based view of a range of information, events, resources and support available to SMMEs. Jump is an initiative of the Western Cape Provincial Government’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT).
Jump is effectively a virtual on-line representation of the “real-world” SMME ecosystem and support environment. With a free-to-user Google map-based platform it shows a range of on-the-ground and on-line entrepreneur mentorship, funding and business development support OPTIONS, as well as a selection of relevant apps and downloadable business tools.
As part of its unique value-proposition, a business self-assessment tool feature allows the user to do a fast-track gap analysis, allowing the system to serve up, over time, a relevant mix of content, support options, news and events, services and other resources.
Key objectives of the Jump project include:
Supporting the growth and competitiveness of SMMEs in the Western Cape;
Driving small business digital skills and adoption to enhance their business operations and competitiveness;
Coordinating and optimizing the SMME practitioner and business support ecosystem in the region through enhanced visibility (e.g. mentors, accountants, professional intermediaries);
Production of data reports on Jump users regarding the requirements and behaviour of SMMEs, which enable the development of improved and responsive support to small businesses in the region, and which can provide Jump partners with relevant SMME information;
Development of a platform for localized business opportunities;
Becoming the top-of-mind, go-to resource for Western Cape businesses and practitioners.
