Ship Channel Configurator

The purpose of this App is to determine the Depth and Width required in an Inner or Outer Channel for a ship based on its Deepest Draft, Length Overall, and Beam.
The calculations/factors involved are based on PIANC (The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) guidelines.
The calculations take into various key factors that include: ship’s speed, wind, current, waves/swell, nature of channel bottom, channel slope, traffic condition, drift angle and response time.
The App can be used as a preliminary design method to determine the channel configuration (depth and width) for a ship to safely transit the channel with adequate clearances.
A detailed design will subsequently have to be conducted using PIANC guidance to confirm/finalize the results.
