The life of Ven. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows 1.01

St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows (1838 - 1862) was an Italian Passionist clerical student. He was born in a professional family, and he gave up ambitions of a secular career to join the Passionist Congregation. His life at the monastery was not extraordinary, but he followed the rule of the congregation exactly and he was known for his great devotion to the Virgin Mary's sorrows. At 23, he died from tuberculosis. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920.
