Dom Guéranger (1805 - 1875) was a French Benedictine monk and priest, who served for nearly 40 years as the Abbot of Solesmes Abbey (which he founded in the abandoned Priory of Solesmes). By his efforts, he became the founder of the French Benedictine Congregation, which re-established monastic life in France after it had been wiped out by the French Revolution. He was well regarded by Pope Pius IX, and was a proponent of papal infallibility and the Immaculate Conception.

The cause for his canonization is currently being studied, and he has already been approved for the title of Servant of God.
