The Odyssey is one of two Greek epic poems by Homer. It is, to some degree, a sequel to the Iliad, also by Homer. The Odyssey is part of the modern Western canon of literature, being the second oldest extant work available. The Iliad is the oldest. Scholars believe the Odyssey was written around the end of the 8th century BC, in Ionia.
